Islamabad: Rice exports from the country recorded a 35.40 percent increase during the first five months of the current fiscal year compared to the exports during the same period of the previous year.
According to the data of the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, more than 2.377 million metric tons of rice, including basmati rice and others worth $1.515 billion, were exported during July-November 2024, while 1.721 million metric tons worth $1.119 billion were exported in the same period of the previous year.
In the last 05 months of the current fiscal year, exports of basmati rice increased by 34.64 percent as 370,282 metric tons of the said commodity worth $386.116 million were exported, while in the same period of the previous year, exports were 244,664 metric tons and $728.76 million.
Meanwhile, the country earned $1.129 billion from exports of rice other than basmati rice in the last five months of the current fiscal year, compared to $832.523 million in the same period last year.
Exports of other rice during July-November saw an increase of about 35.67 percent compared to exports in the same period last year.
Worrying news regarding investment in the telecom sector
During the first 05 months of the current fiscal year, food group exports from the country have increased by 19.58 percent compared to exports in the same period last year.
