Maulana Fazlur Rehman meets Prime Minister, directs to resolve Madrasa Bill issues soon

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif assured Maulana Fazlur Rehman to resolve the issues of madrasas soon.

According to ARY News, JUI chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman met Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in which Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri and Senator Kamran Murtaza were present.

PPP leaders Raja Pervez Ashraf and Qamar Zaman Kaira were also present in the meeting, in addition to Ayaz Sadiq, Ishaq Dar, Azam Nazir Tarar, Atta Tarar, Rana Sanaullah, and Attorney General Mansoor Usman from the government were also present.

Shehbaz Sharif directed to resolve the issues soon and said that the Law Ministry should take steps in accordance with the constitution and law to resolve the issue.

On the other hand, speaking to the media after meeting the Prime Minister, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that the Prime Minister invited us to meet for discussions on the bill related to madrasas and we reiterated our position in the meeting.

He said that we have made it clear that the bill has become an act after it is passed by both houses. If the President wants to raise an objection, then one objection has been raised, which the Speaker has responded to. The second objection sent by the President is not constitutionally valid.

He said that the President did not respond to the Speaker’s reply. The second objection was sent after the constitutional period had passed, which has not yet reached the Speaker’s office.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that our position was responded to very positively and the Prime Minister immediately instructed the Law Ministry to take practical steps in accordance with the law and the constitution. After that, it is hoped that practical steps in accordance with the law and the constitution will be in accordance with our demands.

It should be noted that objections were raised against the Madrasa Registration Bill passed by the President in the past few days. The President objected that if the bill becomes law, there is a risk of FATF and GSP and other sanctions if the madrasas are registered under the Societies Act. If the registration of madrasas is started through the Societies Act, the grip of the law may be reduced, then there will be less law and more arbitrariness.

In this regard, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman had given the government a deadline.
